New Years means new beginnings and this is when people start the whole “starting next year, I will…” blah blah and so on. Some times we stick to it (for a couple of months and then we stop) and other times, we just say “to hell with it, I’ll do it next year.” Yes, been there done that. The most popular New Year’s Resolution I hear from everyone is losing weight and being healthy. Losing weight has been my New Year’s Resolution for the past several years. I am older now, and yes, I am more than ever knowledgeable on all the different types of diets out there, including low fat,  no sugar, low carb, low calorie, liquid / shake / green tea / whatever the hell you call it diet.

Last year, my goal was to lose weight and to run a marathon. I succeeded in running 3 marathons and I am very proud of myself . Did I lose weight from running? HELL NO. In fact, I gained weight. Why? Let’s just say that my body craves more fuel when I am running and for some stupid reason, I kept thinking that I can cheat on my diet if I ran miles and miles. That is not the business. We all have different body types and our bodies react different when losing weight. Some people lose their belly first, and others lose weight in their arms or it shows in their face. When I lose weight, I start to lose my buttocks and my breasts. Talk about being lucky. LOL. Ugh, I just don’t get it. Well, starting today, I will do the following:

No Carbs

Image

I will not visit the cupcake bakery any more and I will not subject myself to eating my mommy’s mouthwatering goodies.

No More Fast Food

I will NOT be visiting KFC, Mcdonalds, L & L, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell just because I am hungry and I want something right away. This is going to be hard!

Image

No More Daily Weighing!

There is nothing worst than constantly weighing yourself every day and feeling like a failure when the numbers are not going down. Yes, your weight fluctuates but I have this whole mental thing in my head where if I don’t see the numbers drop fast enough, I get discouraged, so I will NOT use the scale.

Image

Losing weight is important for your health but before you start a diet, please do as much research as you can, get advice/ consent from your doctor and do it in a healthy way.  I will be posting here daily with a progress report so if you’d like to follow me on my journey, check back . Happy New Year!!!!!

Ladies: To Shave Or Not To Shave….That Is The Question….

bargain, beauty, clothes, clothing, fashion, love, makeup, sale, slim, splurge, spring fashion, tips, trend, trends, Uncategorized, weightloss

Image

*This is a subject that most women feel uncomfortable to talk about. Sorry if any of you women feel offended*  I don’t know about you , but for me, when I let it all grow out down “there”,  I just don’t like it. LOL. So, to solve this “problem”, and to look more attractive or clean  down “there”, you figure you might want to try and get rid of the au natural pubic hair. But, you think to yourself “should I shave, wax,  or use Nair?”  Before you grab that razor, read the pros and cons.

Now, I’ve done all of the above.  Here’s my experience:

Shaving :    Image

Pros:   Easy, free, convenient

Cons: Hair grows back within a couple of hours and it’s rough and coarse, neck hurts when you’re constantly looking down there at different angles, and depending on how much hair you have, it could take a while. Could get messy, with pubes all over the shower. Prone to ingrown hairs. Oh, and like I’ve mentioned in the beginning, your neck hurts!!!

Nair:   Image

Pros:   Cheap, easy to use

Cons: hair grows back fast, smells bad. It’s better to use on the bikini line only

Wax:Image

Pros:  No hair growth for a month. Hair does eventually get thinner and finer.

Cons:  Ouchy painful, expensive (My wax girl charges me $70).

________________________________________________________________________________________________

I prefer waxing -hands down. It’s cleaner and better. The more times you do it, the lesser the hair growth. 🙂   It is a bit pricey, so what you can do is do a yelp search for wax salons in your area.  There’s usually a discount for first-timers. Also, if you subscribe to living social / bloom spot / groupon, you can find salon deals. Good luck!

Ladies, Here Are Your Answers As To WHY MEN CHEAT!

bargain, beauty, clothes, clothing, fashion, love, sale, slim, splurge, spring fashion, tips, trend, trends, Uncategorized, weightloss

Yes, you were the sweet , faithful , loving girlfriend/ wife/ spouse the whole time, but despite the fact that you’re also beautiful, you were still played.  How can that be? What did I do wrong?

Before I answer this , I want to confirm with everyone that it is a proven fact that men cheat way more than women. Im not saying that all women are angelic- there are some who cheat just as often as men do.  If  you were cheated on in the past or are going through it right now, read on. This may play a part in your situation.

Have you caught your man doing this?

Men Cheat Because they’re not Getting Any, RIGHT?

Lmao. This is too funny. Sorry to be so blunt, but men cheat because they are not emotionally connected to their partner. Women feel that when men arent happy, we gotta give it up. The guys need to feel like they are appreciated in all that they do for us.
For a majority of men, they want to be the one that takes care of everything, which means providing a safe and loving home. They want to hear you say “baby, you’re working so hard. I appreciate all that you do. I love you. You’re doing a fabulous job”

Do Men Cheat Because I gained A little Weight or Because I dont dress The Way I Used To????

When you’ve been in a relationship for a while, you get into that “comfort” zone, where you start farting, picking your nose, burping, and you switch your sexy ass true religions or hot dresses for comfy pair of sweatpants and tie your hair back. Try making an effort once in a while to doll yourself up. Keep the spark alive. Remind him why he fell in love with your dazzling smile.

So, in conclusion , to answer this question, men cheat because for whatever reason, they can and they will, if you let them. (same goes for women as well). If you suspect your man of cheating, ask him in a nice and subtle way (of course, have at least 3 or more “legit” reasons of why you suspect it). If he doesnt give you a logical answer for each and every one of them, seek counseling. If he’s not willing to do that, then he’s not willing to work on the relationship.

Miss Piggy For M.A.C…No way…

Wowzer! This past November, Miss Piggy introduced her signature line to M.A.C…im effin serious! Her line includes mascara, false eyelashes and blush. I am totally all for it and think it’s rah rah awesome!

M.A.C has definitely added some popular celebrities on to their list, including Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige,  and Fergie..and now, Miss. Piggy.Cheers to you, M.A.C. It wouldve been awesome if my icon, Gwen Stefani was into M.A.C  but she’s partnered up with L’oreal.

I give this look 5 stars. Why? You can definitely wear this look during day and night. To bring it to a “night” look, simply apply heavier eyeliner and wear a darker shade of lipstick.

kudos to you , Miss. Piggy.

Love it or hate it????...I LOVE IT!

2010 Hair Trends….What Looks Good on You

bargain, beauty, clothes, clothing, fashion, makeup, sale, slim, splurge, spring fashion, tips, trend, trends, Uncategorized, weightloss

Did you wake up this morning, looked in the mirror and say to yourself, “my god, my hair sucks!”?  lol. I did. I have long straight hair. Sometimes i dye it, bleach it, cut it, and the truth is, it’s been the same style for the past 10 years. Yes, I am one of those victims who’ve fallen pray to Jeniffer Aniston’s infamous “Friends” hair cut. I mean, it’s cute and all, but I need a change.

When I leave the salon, it looks like this, but sometimes, I’ll get lazy and just let it grow out.

So anyway, next month (when I get paid), I’ve decided to make an appointment with my stylist for a fresh new 2010 hair do.

But now, my mind is all over the place…what color? should I bleach it? How short should i cut it? Will the hair cut make my face look more round? should I have bangs? UGH!!!! The torture of trying to find out what type of hair cut i should get. I tend to be a bit dramatic when it comes to my hair because, after all, Im going to be stuck with it for a while until it grows out.

Now that it’s Summer,  lighter hair seems to be in, and of course, as winter approaches, you’d want to go for a darker tone.

Ladies, look no further…I’ve compiled some pics of trendy hairstyles for 2010

This bob looks great on someone who has a wide round face (like me) and needs to cover some extra baby cheeks. It’s professional and cute, but it does require some maintenance. You have to visit the salon quite often to trim the bangs and bob.

I love this long pony tail hair look because it’s sexy and has that classic look to it. You can wear this hair at a formal event. It’s number one on my list of up do’s.

Below are 4 trendy hair styles that would look great on any type of face shape.

My most favorite 2010 hair style , in which I am going to have for myself is this:

Well, keep coming back for more updates. I will be adding more posts.

So, remember, before going to the salon and asking your stylist what hair cut would look better on you, first define your face shape, if it’s oval, round, long, oblong, whatever. Then assess whether you want short , medium, or long hair. Look in magazines to get ideas, clip the picture and bring it to your stylist.Good Luck! Let me know what hair style you’ve decided to go with!

Trust and Honesty: How it Affects You

bargain, beauty, clothes, fashion, makeup, slim, spring fashion, tips, trends, Uncategorized, weightloss

All of us, at one stage or other, have experienced a situation in which we have found ourself not trusting another person. This could have been someone we have known for a while, built that trust, and because of some reason, trust was lost.

Unfortunately though, occasionally not trusting someone else also includes those we have known for a while. Doubts begin to creep into our thinking about their motivation and behaviour, and these can begin to have a major impact on the relationship, for our behaviour in relation to the other person will begin to be different. This is what’s happening for me right now.

It is interesting to note that when we find ourself not being comfortable with another person, regardless of the circumstances, we are not always able to articulate what this discomfort is about. What we experience is a strong gut feeling or hunch, which we are not able to explain. You will find your self not acting “normally” and you feel out of place. The way you talk, act, think will be different.

Not trusting someone means that we do not have full confidence in them and consequently we are not interested in pursuing a relationship with them. anymore or further. Even if the circumstances dictate we need to spend some time in their company, we might find ourselves very wary of them and limit how we engage with them.

So far the emphasis has been on the negative side of trust, or to be more precise, lack of trust. But what about when we do trust people? What happens to us when we trust people and what is different for us when we don’t trust people?

It would seem that when we trust someone, be it personally and/or professionally, we are willing to enter into a relationship with them. In a trusting relationship we are willing to conduct ourselves differently, engage in a wider range of actions, and also to be more open to a variety of experiences.

The degree to which we trust someone has a major bearing on the type and relationship we will form with them. Relationships are a fundamental part of our existence. In fact, a substantial part of our existence can be thought of as co-existence, as we live and work together with a range of people.

Much of our existence, and the quality of our living, is associated with the quality of our relationships. We exist within a network of relationships, and the quality of these relationships determines the sense of satisfaction, achievement, enjoyment and fulfilment we assess ourself to be experiencing. Much of meaning in life is bound up with our relationships and the associated experiences.

We learn through our experiences in both positive and negative relationships. Positive relationships provide much of what is important for us to have a meaningful existence, They provide the context to have conversations, and it is through conversations that we are able to accomplish important things, and to grow and learn together

Much of our suffering – be it individually, as a family, through work, or in general – comes from not having the relationships and conversations which are vital for us, and indeed, which we yearn for. Unfortunately, because of previous experiences, some people find it more difficult than others to develop trusting relationships.

Trust enables relationships to develop and flourish. When trust erodes, the relationship deteriorates. Doubts, which can creep into our thinking about the behaviour of the other person, can act like a poison and a cancer, quickly spreading to sabotage the relationship. Mistrust has a devastating impact on relationships and on the types and quality of conversations that will occur.

While trust is an indispensable component of positive and productive relationships, unfortunately it is something that can all too easily be taken for granted. We may only become aware of its importance when we feel trust has been broken.

How To Apply Foundation

bargain, beauty, clothes, clothing, fashion, love, makeup, sale, slim, splurge, spring fashion, tips, trend, trends, Uncategorized, weightloss

How to Apply Foundation  With a clean face, cleanse, tone and moisturize.Apply primer. Apply foundation to freshly moisturized skin to ensure you have a perfect base on which to work. Then, I use a cosmetic sponge to apply most types of foundation –Try not using your fingertips which results in an uneven, greasy finish.Apply foundation in dots, then blend each one with your sponge.Dampen the sponge first of all, then squeeze out the excess moisture – this will prevent the sponge from soaking up too much costly foundation.Check for tidemarks on your jawline, nose, forehead and chin.Choose a color only one shade lighter than your skin tone for the most natural look. You will get best results if you use a flat brush to apply the cream into the hollows of the shadow and then gradually blend it into the rest of your makeup. Then apply some powder to finish it off. Loose powder is great!
