If you don’t already have a hairstylist, do some research and find out about the salon and the hairdresser. Do some research by asking around, and read up on Yelp reviews. Find a hairdresser that will sit and consult with you on your hair, the cut you want, color and definitely ask questions. Bring a picture of the hair style that you want and see if it can be replicated. There’s nothing worst than going to the salon and spending hours and $$$ on hair that will make you look unflattering. Have fun and Good Luck!

“I WANT TO QUIT MY JOB BUT I NEED THE MONEY” ADVICE

bargain, beauty, clothes, clothing, fashion, hair bangs, love, makeup, work

Annoyed

“I want to quit!” Does that sound like you? Are you having a hard time at work with a boss or a coworker? Is your job too demanding? Does your boss go crazy on you and start acting bi-polarish? Are you unhappy with all the stress you’re dealing with for the little pay you receive? Odds are, you NEED the money but you’re contemplating whether you can wait out this job until you find the next one. When it comes to quitting a job, it’s not a decision to be made in a rash moment or after a bad day at work. In this day and age, finding a job is hard. You are competing with people that are more skilled than you, have more experience than you, or is more educated than you, and there’s just not that many jobs available. So, I highly advise, before you march right out the door of your work place, ask yourself these questions:

1. What is my financial situation? Are you able to survive 6 months to 1 year while looking for another job? If your answer is no, then rethink about quitting your job and start sending out resumes pronto. If you have some money saved, consider cutting back on expenses. Apply for a part time job so you still have some sort of money coming in and you can go to interviews.

2. Do I have a support system? When you decide to quit that job, and you dont have anything lined up, odds are, you may start to doubt yourself and go into depression mode. It happens to all of us. I was laid off once and I didn’t work for two months. I went to a couple of interviews and sent out my resumes like a mad woman. After getting turned down twice, I started doubting myself. That is the worst thing you can do for yourself. Never doubt yourself. Pick out 2 to 3 people in your life that you can vent/bitch to and you know will remind you that you are talented and bright and can cheer you up when you need it.

3. Am I looking for a career change? Career changes can take longer than expected, especially if you are considering going back to school. If you plan on quitting your job, make sure to have a back up plan for the career you want to get into. Have realistic expectations. Are you able to afford school? If not, consider talking to a counselor and see what your options are for getting into that career path. Or better yet, see if you can take some affordable junior college classes .

4. Am I Exposing My Resume To It’s Utmost Potential? When you send out your resume, there are hundreds of other applicants inquiring about the same job . You have to get out there and start networking. Get your resumes out on linkedin. Join a recruiting company. Ask friends to refer you. Use social meet up groups to network.

Just recently, I quit a job where I worked for several years. I wanted a change of pace. I wanted more money. I wanted a better title. The more I thought about it, the more I got anxious and impatient. I figured “I will find something soon with all my experience. Im still young. Ill leave.” I ended up  not working for several months, but I did use my time wisely by taking classes ,  networking, and relaxing. Leaving my last job was a great opportunity for me to explore my options on what I really wanted to do in life. Now, I am only giving you advice based on my experience. I am not a therapist, H.R director, or anything. This is purely based on lifelong lessons and experience.

If you are financially okay to not work for 6 months, and you have exhausted all your options of trying to make your job work, then maybe it is time for a change. In the end, it’s really up to you on how much more $hit you can take. People will give you all sorts of advice. They will tell you “just quit. It’s not worth it” or “The job market is horrible. You should be happy you’re getting paid”. And they will tell you all these reasons but remember, this is YOUR life. It is YOUR decision.

Remember, never regret anything you did in life because at one point, that was what you wanted.

2013’s Easy 5 Minute Make Up Trends

The great thing about beauty trends in makeup is that it is constantly changing.  I look at pictures of myself from the past several years (no I am not THAT old) with different makeup looks, and I reminisce “I remember this was in”. Well, the beauty trend for 2013 takes only 5 minutes. It’s based on a more au naturale look and it’s fast and easy. Check out these two pictures below:

2013's Easy 5 Minute Make Up Trends

Trace your lash lines with a black pencil and smudge it. Make it messy. Think of rocker chick that partied all night and woke up in the morning with a hang over.

Apply shadow apply brown eye shadow and sweep it across the lids and under the eyeliner

Lipstick add on a sex nude lipstick and you are all set!

Dark Berry Lip Look

Dark Berry Lip Look

Quickly even out your skin with a good foundation. Remember to use moisturizer.

Brighten eyes with a soft brown shadow across your eye lids and use a white eyeliner pencil and line inside the rim on the bottom part of your eyes. Your eyes will pop!

Lips  Use a sexy dark berry color on your lips. I prefer a matte color lipstick as opposed to a shimmery wet pout.

Try out these looks and take advantage of the five minute (maybe less ) beauty trend. Have a good day!

Ladies: To Shave Or Not To Shave….That Is The Question….

*This is a subject that most women feel uncomfortable to talk about. Sorry if any of you women feel offended*  I don’t know about you , but for me, when I let it all grow out down “there”,  I just don’t like it. LOL. So, to solve this “problem”, and to look more attractive or clean  down “there”, you figure you might want to try and get rid of the au natural pubic hair. But, you think to yourself “should I shave, wax,  or use Nair?”  Before you grab that razor, read the pros and cons.

Now, I’ve done all of the above.  Here’s my experience:

Shaving :    Image

Pros:   Easy, free, convenient

Cons: Hair grows back within a couple of hours and it’s rough and coarse, neck hurts when you’re constantly looking down there at different angles, and depending on how much hair you have, it could take a while. Could get messy, with pubes all over the shower. Prone to ingrown hairs. Oh, and like I’ve mentioned in the beginning, your neck hurts!!!

Nair:   Image

Pros:   Cheap, easy to use

Cons: hair grows back fast, smells bad. It’s better to use on the bikini line only

Wax:Image

Pros:  No hair growth for a month. Hair does eventually get thinner and finer.

Cons:  Ouchy painful, expensive (My wax girl charges me $70).

________________________________________________________________________________________________

I prefer waxing -hands down. It’s cleaner and better. The more times you do it, the lesser the hair growth. 🙂   It is a bit pricey, so what you can do is do a yelp search for wax salons in your area.  There’s usually a discount for first-timers. Also, if you subscribe to living social / bloom spot / groupon, you can find salon deals. Good luck!

Miss Piggy For M.A.C…No way…

Wowzer! This past November, Miss Piggy introduced her signature line to M.A.C…im effin serious! Her line includes mascara, false eyelashes and blush. I am totally all for it and think it’s rah rah awesome!

M.A.C has definitely added some popular celebrities on to their list, including Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige,  and Fergie..and now, Miss. Piggy.Cheers to you, M.A.C. It wouldve been awesome if my icon, Gwen Stefani was into M.A.C  but she’s partnered up with L’oreal.

I give this look 5 stars. Why? You can definitely wear this look during day and night. To bring it to a “night” look, simply apply heavier eyeliner and wear a darker shade of lipstick.

kudos to you , Miss. Piggy.

Love it or hate it????...I LOVE IT!

2010 Hair Trends….What Looks Good on You

bargain, beauty, clothes, clothing, fashion, makeup, sale, slim, splurge, spring fashion, tips, trend, trends, Uncategorized, weightloss

Did you wake up this morning, looked in the mirror and say to yourself, “my god, my hair sucks!”?  lol. I did. I have long straight hair. Sometimes i dye it, bleach it, cut it, and the truth is, it’s been the same style for the past 10 years. Yes, I am one of those victims who’ve fallen pray to Jeniffer Aniston’s infamous “Friends” hair cut. I mean, it’s cute and all, but I need a change.

When I leave the salon, it looks like this, but sometimes, I’ll get lazy and just let it grow out.

So anyway, next month (when I get paid), I’ve decided to make an appointment with my stylist for a fresh new 2010 hair do.

But now, my mind is all over the place…what color? should I bleach it? How short should i cut it? Will the hair cut make my face look more round? should I have bangs? UGH!!!! The torture of trying to find out what type of hair cut i should get. I tend to be a bit dramatic when it comes to my hair because, after all, Im going to be stuck with it for a while until it grows out.

Now that it’s Summer,  lighter hair seems to be in, and of course, as winter approaches, you’d want to go for a darker tone.

Ladies, look no further…I’ve compiled some pics of trendy hairstyles for 2010

This bob looks great on someone who has a wide round face (like me) and needs to cover some extra baby cheeks. It’s professional and cute, but it does require some maintenance. You have to visit the salon quite often to trim the bangs and bob.

I love this long pony tail hair look because it’s sexy and has that classic look to it. You can wear this hair at a formal event. It’s number one on my list of up do’s.

Below are 4 trendy hair styles that would look great on any type of face shape.

My most favorite 2010 hair style , in which I am going to have for myself is this:

Well, keep coming back for more updates. I will be adding more posts.

So, remember, before going to the salon and asking your stylist what hair cut would look better on you, first define your face shape, if it’s oval, round, long, oblong, whatever. Then assess whether you want short , medium, or long hair. Look in magazines to get ideas, clip the picture and bring it to your stylist.Good Luck! Let me know what hair style you’ve decided to go with!

Fashion Trends for Spring and Summer 2008

Women’s Fashion Trends for Spring & Summer 2008

An array of feminine styles will bring us into the new spring and summer season for 2008. In addition to last year’s oh-so-hot colors, everything’s just a little brighter and bold. With polished styles and retro designs, this summer’s latest fashion trends for women are truly inspiring and a whole lotta fun.

Everything that’s old is new again. Reminiscent of yesteryear, we’ll be seeing much more clothing that makes women feel flirty and sexy. Girly lace in just the right place will accent a fine blouse while romantic ruffles add just what it takes to make a dress ready for work or play.

Seasonal Colors

  • Splashy, fruity colors such as mango, watermelon, lemon, tangerine, and lime green give a large variety of choices and will surely get you noticed.
  • The fashion industry and popular designers are favoring classic red in gowns as well as handbags. Too bold for you? Add the color in accessories such as belts and jewelry.
  • The palette for formalwear offers up powdery pastels and classy, ever-so-trendy silver, gold, and white so you can dress up in style.
  • Silver and gray replace black for warm weather neutrals. Whether matte or metallic, these two colors add dimension to otherwise solid styles.
  • Classic tan and military green are a great combo, not only for solid pieces but for the very trendy camouflage styles as well. Whatever your choice, these colors need simple accessories such as a belt and gold chain.

Styles and Patterns

  • Fashion trends for woman this summer will showcase ultra-feminine styles with lots of movement. Flowing skirts and chiffon blouses are dressy, yet casual enough for a party.
  • Hemlines are higher but not too high. Only a few inches above the knee leave just enough to the imagination. On the contrary, shirt lengths are getting longer, allowing space for a strategically-placed belt or sash.
  • Sleeves take a backseat to this year’s sleeveless, off-the-shoulder, and cutout designs — making shoulders a perfect place for a light dusting of bronzing powder.
  • Retro styles are all the rage with patterns reminiscent of the 1960’s, 1970’s, and even the 1980’s. What’s exciting is the use of contrasting colors in the patterns, some quite wild in geometrical shapes.
  • Playful prints include tiny clusters, paisley, and floral patterns, all in a barrage of color. Perfect for a spring day or hot summer night.
  • Fashionable, military inspired clothing shows your support and is an instant hit for casual wear. Take your pick from light, cotton cargos, camouflage, walking shorts, and belted jackets.
  • All-in-one outfits take the guesswork out of matching separates. Look for one-piece styles in suits and shorts. Most come with a belt or sash to define the waist.
  • There’s a lot of appreciation for vintage clothing, with good reason. There’s some real treats to be found in second-hand shops that still look very stylish in today’s world.
  • An interesting pattern emerging is typography. From clothing, to jewelry (and even home decor!) However, it’s not always obvious. Sometimes you may not notice the letters unless you look closely.

Fashion Accessories, Jewelry, and Shoes

  • Just a few valuable accessories are all you need. Belts, sashes, and head scarves are abundant this spring and work well in moderation.
  • Summer’s hottest trends are glitzy metallics that adorn a wide range of accessories, including belts, purses, and shoes.
  • Patent leather is not just for winter. A fine handbag or pair of shoes will add a nice finishing touch to your wardrobe.
  • Gold is making a comeback, revealing itself in gold/silver combos in jewelry. Perfect for the girl who can’t decide, she can have both at once!
  • Size counts when it comes to handbags. Many celebrities prefer leather carryalls and designer tote bags to lug around their worldly possessions. The extra space is handy for new celebrity moms who refuse to forgo fashion to practicality.
  • The runway is showing shoes that have substance with more sole and heel, which elongulates legs and adds height. High heels and weaved wedges are a just the thing for summer, casual and dressy all at once.
  • For those who prefer flats and a very trendy style, opt for those with pointy toes. Want to be a tad more conservative? Choose flat sandals in neutral colors that will go with just about anything. Strappy sandals are always fun for long weekend getaways.

 Hot Makeup Trends for 2008

  • Many cosmetics companies are offering sheer, mineral makeup that looks very natural outdoors. Not only foundation, but blush and eye shadow that add just a hint of color.
  • You don’t have to be a teen to enjoy lip gloss. By itself or over lipstick, it looks luscious and makes your lips appear plumper.
  • Mascara does double-duty by adding length plus volume. Many come in all-in-one packages, two wands and two small tubes, one with basecoat and one with a topcoat in the color of your choice.
  • Pigment, and lots of it! New compacts are crammed with complimenting colors marbled within one compartment. The current trend is to apply natural-looking makeup and turn up the color on the eyes.

Whats in Fashion for 2008: Hair, Makeup, Trends, Oh my!!!

bargain, beauty, clothes, fashion, makeup, slim, spring fashion, tips, trends

2007 was such a big year for hair trends that it’s not too hard to see why so many hair trends in 2008 might feel familiar. While 2007 introduced us to the pob, it’ll be its cousin the bob that we’ll be wearing in 2008. And it’s much the same story with the fringe trend: it was already with us at the start of 2007, had lost popularity by mid-year, but was brought back by Kate Moss in a completely new way.

This year hair trends will range from crops to natural long tresses, with cute bobs in-between. We’ll also be wearing various shapes of feminine, masculine, and elegant to name but a few, all taking their cues from the same eras as their parent clothing trends.

We saw plenty of the fringe at the start of 2007, and then somewhere in the first half of the year it simply lost its buzz. Then, as the year drew to a close, it became a certain hair trend for 2008 when hypermodel Kate Moss got a fringe. What’s best is that as a trend, you’re going to have plenty of options to make it your own.
